Introducing Faith Forward

image

Hello dear friends!

So as promised a little over a month ago…I plan to write a weekly post called FaithForward. The whole idea of these blog posts is to make us think deep within ourselves and to challenge us to move forward in our faith!  Does that mean these posts will be easy to read…I hope not, because they won’t be easy to write!

I’m very excited about this series.

I already have next week’s post written and ready for my blog to go live!

Out of all the posts schedules to happen each week this one has been the most difficult to think about as our family has quite literally fought through being crippled by a horrible circumstance…a circumstance rooted in sin, and we are slowly working our way out of the dark murky swamp we have found ourselves in.  All while holding Jesus’ hand and sometimes even being carried my Him we have deepened our faith far more than I ever expected!

I can’t wait to share some of this journey with you over the coming months!

Blessings,
Mary

Ministry In Marriage &Motherhood- Introduction

Back almost 12 years ago I was newly married.  Hubby was working full time and in seminary full time.  I was working full time and signed up for a free class (a perk of being married to a full time student).  I already had  received my bachelors degree a few months earlier so basically I wanted to fill up some blank time in the evenings.  I perused my options and I kept being drawn to a class entitled “Ministry In Marriage and Motherhood”.  The first night I knew I had made the right choice!

Was the class easy?

Yes and no!

Was it fun?

99% of the time.

It stretched me. I grew leaps and bounds.  And the other day as we were cleaning out a closet I stumbled upon the notebook for the class.  I felt inspired to devote one blog post a week to what it means to be in ministry to my husband and children.  Because let’s be honest if I’m not taking care of this ministry all else is in vain.   I have learned so much in the nearly 12 years since that class! So what do you say?  Won’t you join me as we explore what it means to minister to our families?

Bible Verse,::

The Psalm from a conference I attended a week ago.  The Speaker (one of my mentors) made this above and beyond real! She walked around the stage with her arms wrapped around her daughter. What a precious reminder of the fact that God is always with us. I had the privilege of helping her with the same example a few years ago. What sweet memories!

Psalm 55

Give ear to my prayer, O God, and hide not yourself from my plea for mercy! Attend to me, and answer me; I am restless in my complaint and I moan, because of the noise of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked. For they drop trouble upon me, and in anger they bear a grudge against me. My heart is in anguish within me; the terrors of death have fallen upon me. Fear and trembling come upon me, and horror overwhelms me. And I say, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest; yes, I would wander far away; I would lodge in the wilderness; Selah I would hurry to find a shelter from the raging wind and tempest.” Destroy, O Lord, divide their tongues; for I see violence and strife in the city. Day and night they go around it on its walls, and iniquity and trouble are within it; ruin is in its midst; oppression and fraud do not depart from its marketplace. For it is not an enemy who taunts me— then I could bear it; it is not an adversary who deals insolently with me— then I could hide from him. But it is you, a man, my equal, my companion, my familiar friend. We used to take sweet counsel together; within God’s house we walked in the throng. Let death steal over them; let them go down to Sheol alive; for evil is in their dwelling place and in their heart. But I call to God, and the Lord will save me. Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan, and he hears my voice. He redeems my soul in safety from the battle that I wage, for many are arrayed against me. God will give ear and humble them, he who is enthroned from of old, Selah because they do not change and do not fear God. My companion stretched out his hand against his friends; he violated his covenant. His speech was smooth as butter, yet war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords. Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved. But you, O God, will cast them down into the pit of destruction; men of blood and treachery shall not live out half their days. But I will trust in you. (‭Psalm‬ ‭55‬:‭1-23‬ ESV)
