Outside my Window…Cool, sunny, and the birds are chirping merrily

I am thinking…I am so very happy that i am almost over my cold

I am thankful for…The ability to be creative. Hubby has given me more freedom in decorating our home and I am have a blast!

From the kitchen…Oatmeal M&M cookies…crunchy on the outside..chewy on the inside and warm from the oven!

I am creating…Curtains for our kitchen and a curtain for the kiddos room

I am going…no where until Friday..Friday is our night out so any and all shopping is done in one trip..if I forget anything I either wait til Sunday when we are close by out discount grocery store or til the following Friday. Saves on Gas, impulse spending and encourages me to be as thorough as I possibly can with me shopping list!

I am wearing…Navy blue shorts, a red Marvin the Martian t-shirt and my hair needs to be brushed

I am reading…One Lady at a Time; the Bible; The hidden Art of Homemakeing; Jesus Among Other God’s and a few others.

I am hoping…A late sleeping in session for the 3 kiddos

I am hearing…Nothing..pure and blissful nothing!

Around the house…Tons to do!!!! We are building 2 new rooms in our basement. A lot of Laundry, a stack of dishes, Clutter being dealt with and so on..A lot of it left over from being sick this last week!

One of my favorite things…clean surfaces..No clutter..that’s tough when you live in a house too small for your family.. guess I have to throw out more stuff!!! Yippee!!

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week…De clutter the kitchen…AGAIN..it’s a never ending Job…And I also need to get Vug’s reorganized with some rearranging.

The Y-Factor

Little boys-I have two. An adorable three year old and an adorable almost 8 month old. What an incredible joy they both are but yet they are so very very different from their also adorable almost 2 year old sister. Between Tornado and Vug there are so many differences as well. Too many to mention as a matter of fact. However there are some very distinct similarities very unique to them, and not their sister. The foremost being that they both adored trying to rip and tear my facial features from my head. Ears, eyes, and nose but mostly hair. They all have been attempted to be removed. Luckily minus a few hairs on my head all are still in place! They are just more aggressive.

However just recently we have started a new y-factor in our family….the dreaded why-factor. maybe I am just sheltered, maybe some else has a different experience but I have only experienced this with boys. My brother-Air Force Man, my youth leader from when I was in high school, my hubby was also like this as a kid and now Tornado. They all have had this burning, ever present “Why?” exuding from their very being. Every once in a while I can see the question come across hubby’s face though he may not verbalize it.

Maybe you’ve experienced this..It goes something like this:

Mommy Can I have this? No it’;s chocolate. Why? Because you are allergic to chocolate. Why? because your body doesn’t like it and it makes you have yucky diapers. Why? Because that is what God decided. Why? I don’t know why.

It’s frustrating, very frustrating. Then there is the scientific questions. Like this discussion after I was finished picking berries from our bushes outside.

Me have more berries? No you can’t. Why? They aren’t ripe yet. Why? Because they haven’t been in the sun long enough yet. Why? because they are younger than all of their other brother and sister berries. Why? Because their flowers took longer to fall off. Why? I have no Idea why!

Again so very frustrating and sometimes I get this incredible urge to just say

“Z”

So do you think that the Y chromosome that makes a boy a boy is linked the why-factor that a lot of boys seem to be intrigued with?

It’s What Time?

Disgusting,Absolutely Disgusting! On My computer clock as I type it is 4:10..That would be AM. YUCK!

To what do I owe this pleasure of being awake at this awful hour? Sickness. When we went away on vacation one week ago we left Thursday night. We got to the Bible Conference and set up camp. Yes we took the three kids tent camping and had a blast. The kids did great despite the fact they woke up Friday morning with three runny noses. I was told by the nursery workers that a near by farm had just mowed three fields of hay. Ding Ding..Allergies. Anyway by Friday they had coughs that left a lot to be desired!

I was having trouble with my hay fever a bit but it was nothing outside the norm, that is until Tuesday morning when I woke up not feeling up to snuff! Boy did that spiral downwards fast!

This thing is like half cold and half flu. Complete with fever/chills! Not bad ones..just enough to make you miserable! Poor tornado though he coughs so hard he makes himself sick!

So back to the reason for this post. It is just after 4 am and I DO NOT want to be awake.. I took Day Quil when I went to bed.. Yes that sounds stupid but I have a really good reason. NyQuil knocks me out for a day and a half, and makes me so loopy and out of it so as a mom and a wife that just isn’t possible (or safe)! So I take Day Quil and it knocks me out too. Only just not as long and I am not half as loopy;) That is until i am on the mend….and there is no way of knowing that Until I hit a n almost sleepless night! So TaDa I must be on the mend.

Which I am sure everyone including my house will be very grateful for!

A Very Small victory!

Today hubby and I made a small step together closer to a goal we set last week. This goal id for hubby to loose about 20 pounds and for me to loose about 35 pounds. This last pregnancy really did me in.

We weigh ourselves once a week. Mondays to be exact. We don’t want to be slaves to the scale. We are exercising 3 to 5 days a week and we are watching what we eat. Calories and portions as a matter of fact.

I must confess that I have had some not so healthy “dieting” practices in the past. The one being I skipped meals. I had real problems with my blood sugar plummeting! So I would eat in be tween meals to compensate and I would not pick healthy alternatives!! You guessed I wasn’t losing anything and in fact gained 10 pounds!

Then I heard a startling statistic that really hit home! %0 percent of all women who sip breakfast everyday are overweight….ding ding ding you guessed it . That was me. I was so hungry by mid morning I was searching for something, anything that would give me more energy..especially sugar!

So after one week of being consistent in watching what we eat, and exercising 3to 5 times a week Both hubby and I have lost 2 pounds. that’s within the safe range of weight loss recommended by doctors. We have had so much fun exercising. We have each picked something we enjoy and then we share walking together and the kids too! Hubby is Running and I am riding my bike about 2 to 3 miles every other day. Along with Pilates and yoga for Toning…and yes I have time with 3 kids 3 and under!

I once thought that p[laying with my kids and doing housework was enough but now I am seeing actual results. Please pray for us as we choose to live a more healthy life style. We want to be able to have healthy minds and bodies for many years to come!
