Simple Woman’s Day Book

For Today…September 29, 2008

Outside my Window…gloomy, very gloomy

I am thinking…”Is this cold EVER going to end?”

From the learning rooms…Verses for Cubbies to learn for Tornado……more focus on writing and coloring

I am thankful for…My life..we nearly had a terrible crash yesterday. It was so close it was scary…Two feet from what could have ended all of our lives

From the kitchen…Cookies…i have no idea what type but I am working on a fall celebration for our kids since we don’t celebrate Halloween….We take Trick or treater but our kids don’t participate so we would like to have something special for them!

I am wearing…Tinker Bell PJ’s that hubby got for me a few weeks back… They are so comfy…I love them along with white socks and my hair up in a messy bun!

I am reading…The Bible and Encountering the Old Testament

I am hoping…fan unblocked nose soon. i have had a stuffy nose for like 2 and a half weeks now!

I am creating…ta craft room…Pictures later this week…One I find my camera

I am hearing…Tornado coughing in the background

Around the house…finish up cleaning the kitchen…Folding lost of laundry, and a few other minor straightenings!

One of my favorite things…Fall leaves changing into brilliant oranges reds and yellows…Our maple tree in the side yard in a blaze of orange…So pretty!

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week…So many things but here are a few…. Enjoy some me time…Hubby has been giving me strict orders to take an hour each night where I focus on myself. After being so exhausted tis week he noticed I haven’t been taking the time just full throttle all the time to get the house back into shape! Oh yeah and get the hous back into shape. We are so close I can taste it.!

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you…

Looking forward to Winter…ok so not really but it will be here sooner than we all realize. This is a picture of tornado on top of a HUGE snow Pile at our church. One of the biggest I have ever seen!

Encountering….

Do Those of you I know from college remember the book called
Encountering the Old Testament. Dr S had us read it for both Pentateuch and Former Prophets class…This is what it looked like.

And to those of you who don’t know it should get it!

Well I have been working through the book again. I have continually been finding myself with the need to be challenged. Challenged beyond daily devotions. And let me tell you it’s amazing of just how much you can forget in 5 Years since college!

So to those who read this and are really looking to give themselves a challenge. I got a five subject notebook and sat down with the book and started taking notes and doing all the vocabulary…even the ones I already know…and all the questions (Dr S. only made us do some of them) and I am challenging myself a ton. Now I have just finished chapter 2…and am looking forward to the challenge of coming weeks.

For those of you who have used the book….have you revisited some of your old textbooks from college? It’s amazing how much the material means now. It has gained new importance to me now than it did back in college.

Hubby keeps telling me I need to start reading books in his library…most of which are so over my head I can’t even understand the acknowledgments…just kidding, but this one is great…simplistic yet so chock full of Bible knowledge I learn something new all the time!

ENJOY!

A New Method for Relieving Hiccups

Tonight at dinner we were all sitting around the dinner table. Tornado Myself and lady bug had all finished and we were waiting patiently on daddy and Vug when tornado goes. Oh No We gotta get the hiccups out. I asked him if he wanted a drink to which he replied…”Please take off my head and get the hiccups out?” To which I replied..Oh if it were only that easy!
