Thankful Thursday- Safe Travels

Hi guys,

i know it  has been a few weeks since i posted last for thankful Thursdays BUT I’m back.  We were away for about a week while we visited Answers In Genesis and the Creation Museum in Kentucky.  Hubby went to the Answers for Pastors Conference while we were there (that was the reason why we went in the first place)  🙂

Soon the way out we had a huge struggle with the wind.  Wewere towing our 32 foot camper with our HUGE SUVand we were fighting 50mph wind gusts and suction from Tractor trailers going faster then we were…When towing such large  camper you have to (or at least should :)) go under the speed limit.

Needless tosay Poor hubby was exhausted.  But we were blown off the road far enough to hit the rumble strips once on the outside of the highway.  We also had to pull off a LEGAL u-turn in  in Cleveland due to a cement truck parked in such a way that we could not wing far enough with the camper to make it on our exit for the highway.  And thankfully other than these two incidents we had an uneventful trip there and back…We didn’t see and loose Lions, tigers  or bears in Columbus (OH MY)  while we stayed in the area.

And remarkable we only saw two accidents one of which was horrible. But only involved one car and I am still praying for the  people who might have been inside.

Thank you all who prayed for us and our travels…and Thank you Lord for seeing fit to answer them!

Greetings Friends!!

Longtime no…SEE??? LOL Well i wanted to give you guys a brief update on what we as a family have been up to and what the next few months looks like for us…There is some big news that will be a big change for us and will be super cool!!

The holiday season is usually our craziest of the Year BUT this year we have taken to an all new level!!!! We have only had one weekend off without an event and it will be the same until well after New Years.

So lets start with the last two weeks. We left Monday two weeks ago and took our camper across3 states and spent the night in Columbus Ohio with two of our former college professors. It was great to reconnect and catch up with them…We actually took a babysitter with us. What we did is we had her babysit for us and then we paid for her on various parts of the trip when admission and food was necessary! It was an idea we actually got from her mom and we put out an offer on FB and we know everyone on our FB list. In the end I got so many people offer that i had to remove the post. We have no regrets. she did an awesome job. And we very well may do this again! So the next morning we left for Petersburg Kentucky where Hubby was going to attend the ANSWERS for PASTORS conference at the Creation Museum Home of Answers in Genesis (AiG).

Well when we got to the first campground it was should we say ummmm…..NOT what the pictures on the website showed. It was disturbing….Right in the back of our camper was this embankment that sloped off into a HUGE river…NOT a good thing with 4 small kids who ALL love the water. Not to mention the bathrooms/showers were not clean and j you could just tell that they as a business did not take pride in their campground. Everyone’s campsite looked like a dump….Amazing high cost campers with a ton of junk! So even though my dear hubby had a crazy schedule that was packed with amazing material he still found some time to find a new campground and moved us the next day….

The next campsite was great BUT there was now a NEW problem….COLD AND WET! It just goes to show that weathermen are NOT reliable. So HP and i were stuck in the camper with four kids ranging in age from 6 to 18 months who all wanted to go out and play!!! BUT no fear HP is amazingly creative and we kept them occupied. Praise the Lord for heated campers And TV. Not that they watched a lot BUT more than normal!

Hubby and I got to attend one of the Creation Museum’s date nites in which we got to hear Ken Ham speak and we got to meet him as well when he came to each Table to greet everyone. and then on Friday we as a family got to go to the Creation Museum. Then my super sweet hubby suggested that HP and I stay at the museum while he and the kiddos went back to the camper ate lunch and took a nap. They came back later and we explored the Botanical Gardens and the petting Zoo. i was totally excited about the petting zoo because of TWO animals….Not common by any sense….A ZORSE and a ZONKEY? NO that is not a misspelling…. they are donkey’s and horses that are born with stripes like a Zebra. Though they are not necessarily bred with Zebras. as creationists we hold to the idea that when God created an animal it help all the genetic variations for their types of animal…is dogs, horses/donkeys/zebras.

HP and I also managed to stumble on a discovery that made at least me jump. A T-rex sculpture hidden in the botanical Gardens…LOL it gave us something to laugh about later in the day.

The next day we went to big bone lick state Park where Lewis and Clark discovered the first fossils in the U.S. We took along hike to locate Bison and looks at what we later found out were not really fossils BUT PETRIFIED bones belonging to both Mammoths and Mastodons along with a 6ft sloth (which was coincidentally the only thing about the animals that the Movie Ice Age got wrong) Sid should have been approximately 6 feet tall.)

After big Bone Lick state Park we went on to the Cincinnati Science Center (that is not the right name BUT I can’t remember what it was called…LOL) needless to say it was a sweet Museum and Because we have a membership to a science center for this year we got a reciprocal membership so we get in free to participating science centers….we have in the past done the same thing with Zoos and this year it was science centers. They have an inside glacier right down to COLD air blowing on you and a man made cave that you can climb in and it is HUGE and dark we had a blast But what was most fun for all of our kids was the nature trading post. You can take a quiz each Month and earn points for right answers and then trade those points in for fossils cool rocks fools gold crystals antlers and polished stones!…

That nite we arrived back in Columbus to the house we stayed at before….the next morning we attended their church and then went out to lunch at the Golden Corral (if you have never eaten there you are missing out!!)

Monday we attempted to go to the Columbus Science Center BUT it was closed and then we went back Packed up and headed towards Cleveland where we went to the Great Lakes Science Center…

From there is was back to NY. We arrived at our next destination at 9 30 at nite BUT it was familiar and it is where we call home for most summers….By the end of the week we had a Beautiful weather BUT but brisk and Tuesday evening we were back home. the adventure was over BUT the excitement was not over…..

So from here..we have got a ton going on. Our church’s harvest dinner was Saturday nite then Sunday afternoon was the progressive dinner which started at our home.

This Friday coming I will be heading to Rochester to be at the Women of Faith Conference. and won’t get home to late Saturday night. The following weekend we are having the YG over for dinner and some fun and also the ladies movie Night at our church.. then there is a planning meeting and our yearly open house. Now for the surprise…we should go to closing on our new home somewhere in the middle of November. We are so excited. we have been looking at this house for a couple of months now and still cannot believe that this house is even a possibility!!!!!

From there we go to Thanksgiving which we are hosting this year And my parents are visiting that Saturday. then it is onto the month of December. The first weekend is our only free one in the 3 month span from October to The beginning of January! The following 2 Saturdays are Christmas parties associated with church and then there is Christmas eve service and Christmas day falls on a Sunday this year. Then sometime that week we are hopefully planning a YG overnite. Then there is the New Years eve party here we are still going to have despite the fact that there will be church the next morning and then it is MOVING month (at least that is what we are shooting for). We have to fit in all of our normal church stuff plus Hubby’s school plus taking the kids to school and House renovations….YEP we are busy. SOOO if you don’t hear from us as often as you would like remember that is an absolutely Crazy time for us.we love you guys and hope everyone is doing well! Thanks so much for your patience! (and I will try to get the pictures added into this post ASAP)
