Hearts At Home – January’s Third Thursday Blog Hop

Wow that was a mouth full.

Well this month’s blog hop topic is for us to share some tips in how we keep ourselves organized in the new year. I kind of already posted on that and how in our family we set goals for ourselves instead of resolutions. You can check out those posts both HERE and HERE!

BUT I have another tip that also helps a great deal and I have FINALLY finished it. I am happy with it at the beginning of each year BUT sometime in the middle of the year I am sure I will find another chart to “help” keep me organized!

The artwork is mine and this year I added Tabs…I was getting so much stuff it was hard to remember where it all was!

These are the charts that I use everyday for all the little stuff.

This is the section that has my yearly charts.

And this has my bible reading charts.

This is my daily chart (sorry for the poor photo I had to sacrifice the glare instead of having poor lighting)

This is our daily schedules which is NOT in a tab BUT before the first one.

Double sided menu chart…I plan two weeks meals at a time.

This is my master list of chores broken down by everyday, every weelk, every month, seasonally and yearly

Food Journal.

Master grocery list.

A cleaning calendar and a declutter calendar.

A sample of a Bible reading chart.

And the machine responxible for the punching and binding it all togeter.

Basically this along with my Kindle is my life in a nutshell. I can’t survive otherwise!

Thhird Thursday-5 Things we have given up So we can have More

1. TV-We have a TV but we don’t get TV….We have Movies and Tv series that are appropriate for our family.

-our time isn’t consumed on things that are not God Honoring

– we have more freedom financially becuase there isn’t an extra bill

-our time is not being stolen by useless noise and distraction

2.  everyonce in a while you will find our family  at a restaurant but it’s rare.  In a culture where this is a sometimes daily occurance we wanted to teach our children some things.

– we want tolive healthier lives

-going out to eat is special (a treat) we don’t want our kids to take it for granted.

– it saves us money especially on trips to pack our own food(not that we don’t stop-we just stop less often then most) so we can use that money to see and experience new things

3.  Entertainment- we don’t go to  themovies hardly at all.  It’s alotof money for a one shot deal where as you wait a few months and buy it and you can watch it as much as you want ( and if it wasn’t worth the money you don’t feel bad because you didn’t spend the money at all)  Your friends will give you free reviews 🙂

4.  A lot of toys-we want our kids to be creative (and they are) but as most kids you spend a bunch of money on a toy and they would rather play with the box!!!   (our ids have PLENTY of toys but the would rather play with the pots and pans and plastic dishes, sticks boxes, rocks and so on)

So there are four things. outside of these four things I am not so sure we do without a whole lot.  We have stuff just like everyone else. So in reality i guess we do without the things that would affect is not only in a physical way BUt spiritually as well.  We want our kids to grow up to be responsible.  Not just physically and financially BUT morally as well….I hold to the motto Garbage in Garbage out…So we generally do without the things that bring garbage in…TV, MOVIES, FOOD, MUSIC…we are called to a life of holiness, or set apart unto God!

I know the toys don’t fit into the above statements But I do not want my children to have the “>
