An Interruption to the Weekend’s Plans but it’s a Huge Huge HUGE Blessing!!!

So here’s my question for you. If you read my blog have you ever visited some of the blogs I read regularly? Well I do! DUH I guess that’s the point isn’t it. Well a friend who is a missionary in Mexico to the deaf recently had a blog post about FOOD I suggest you read it!! then you will understand my post! Let her know I sent you!! If you know my real name use Happy Mama because that is all she knows me by!! Here’s her link Between Diapers and Dishes It’s Called CAN I GET A WITNESS So what is my blessing . Hubby was given a FREE…Yes I said FREE dishwasher!! So before we start ripping apart the den we have to disassemble a cabinet in our kitchen!!! Expect to see pictures of all this weekend’s projects on Tackle it Tuesday. I am so excited. As you can guess With three kids three and under a dishwasher is a huge blessing. That means more time with family and less time spent doing something I must honestly say I am not really fond of. I haven’t prayed for a dishwasher. God just saw fit to give me a desire of my heart..kinda fits with my post yesterday on the omniscience of God on my Food For Though Blog (me devotional blog) Check it out!!

3 Things from Chapter 3

Don’t worry I will not do this for every chapter. I promise that I will limit my thoughts to 2 or 3 thought provoking insights for each post Considering that I got the three things from the first three pages I can’t say i will limit two or three things from each chapter!!

So let’s get with it shall we:

#1 is the quote that appears below the chapter title

The prayer preceeding all prayer is ” May it be the real I who speaks, May it be the real ThouThat I speak to” ~C.S. Lewis

It’s amazing how when we struggle in our faith we all feel this at one time or another. It’s just that we haven’t put it nearly as eloquently. Oh and what an encouragement to know that such a man as C.S. Lewis felt the same…It’s just an ever present reminder that those who have fame is just as human as the rest of us “normal ” people!

#2 A brief confession of the famous pastor Haddon Robinson who begins almost every sermon this way:

God, if these people knew about me what you know about me, they wouldn’t listen to a word I said

WOW! what transparency with both God and his congregation. I wonder what his church thinks when they hear this at the beginning of almost every sermon!!! Haddon is also known for the RBC program Discover the word and is a regular write for their (RBC’s) Our Daily Bread.

#3 is a self realization by the author

Whenever i get depressed by a lack of spiritual progress, I realize that my very dismay is a sign of progress.

This hit close to home with me. It’s been tough to face so much rejection in the face of trying to do God’s will and what we know God has called us to do. So in a place of spiritual dryness I struggled with simple things, washing the dishes, doing laundry and cracking God’s word. In my spiritual journey with Christ we all hit stagnate moments that’s the way it goes but it’s amazing how those stagnate moments are getting shorter and shorter. I just can’t stay away from God as long! I am drawn back quicker and quicker each time. The longing for communion with my Savior is deepening every day..So yes. I completely understand what the author is saying.

In closing this book has hit close to home and really has helped me to realize that I am not alone in this journey we are all on together!

Thankful Thursday

Well I have done some thinking this week..about Thankful Thursday that is! Well I have decided to take an interesting spin on thankful Thursday. I am going to dwell on the attributes of God and why I am thankful hat the one true God has that attribute.

So let’s start off with the three O’s. I will do each O over three weeks,,,
This week is Omniscience meaning ALL-KNOWING! I thought this was fitting after this past Tuesday when some people are very upset about who was elected!

As Christians we Pray and pray and pray for God’s will to be done. We vote for who we think will be the best choice and THEN we get angry because the “WRONG” guy was elected!!!

Whoa! Wait a Minute..Didn’t we just say that we prayed for God’s will. So many times I forget that God knew this was going to happen. HE KNEW He was NOT surprised!!!

I am thankful That the God of the Universe is not surprised by ANYTHING that happenes in this world. Let’s think about what life would be like if God could be surprised…God could sin…The element of surprise causes reactions that lead to sin…Doesn’t that just rock your world as a believer!

As a sinner I sometimes wish that God didn’t know everything..but knowing that God does know everything that I have done or said helps me be able to talk to Him!!

I am thankful that God knows everything! He knows what is going to happen with each new day and He can help us deal with these things.

I had a friend is college whose father was a pastor. She is a lovely young woman . She fell in love with a young man but suddenly she found herself with tons of inner turmoil. She would cry and weep and had no idea what all of this was about. She was relying on God for the very strength to make it through a day. Through doing that she drew closer and closer to God. That relationship was necessary for what she was about to endure. The young man she fell in love with passed away very suddenly. God knew about that before it happened. The young woman was able to withstand the trauma of this because her relationship with God was stronger than ever. She told our discipleship group that God knew she wasn’t strong enough to deal with that tragedy on her own so he drew her closer than ever before..and she made it. Though this young man and young woman planned to marry, those plans have been ripped from her! Wouldn’t you know God had already had another young man in store for her and she has since been married….So whatever you are going through God knows..Rest in That!!
