Thankful Thursday-Week #1

So for this week I am thankful for the new year.  Actually new Beginnings is more like it.  I look forward to the beginning of each year because then i can refresh my outlook!  NOW it is NOT limited to the beginning of the new year BUT each day has a new beginning, was week has a new beginning.

NOW as believers we had the ultimate new beginning when we accepted Christ as our Savior.  No one but believers get that kind of new beginning!

Now new beginnings does not mean you get a clean slate.  we live in a fallen world and we will suffer consequences from either our decisions or someone Else’s.  now our immediate thought is “that’s not fair”  well as a believer our faith is not  built on what’s fair”  if it were we would all end up in hell  BUT because of a perfect man willing to sacrifice everything he had (his Life).  He didn’t deserve to die and That was NOT fair!

So if you don’t get a clean slate what is no great about new beginnings….OUTLOOK!  Or new focus.  At any point you can get a new focus or outlook!  Which coincidentally if you are a believer should ALWAYS revolve around Christ!  What’s a good outlook to have How about 1 Corinthians 10:31 which say

Whatever you eat or drink, or whatever you do do ALL to the glory of God.  We have made this our family verse for the year BUT more on that in a different blog post!

So I hope you have a wonderful New year.  And i am praying that it will be a Christ centered new year at that!

Quick Fix: Hiccups

There is no warning for them…and they can be cute little noisesor annoying , painful eruptions from your core.  But when it come right down to it HICCUPS are annoying!

Now before Ishare our families always popular remedy for hiccups I want to say this…if you have hiccups and they won’t go away you may need to seek mendical attentionBECAUSE asodd as it may seem hiccups can be a  symptom of something more serious.

here are some reasons why we get hiccups!

eating too much

swallong too much air

drinking carbonated drinks

NO REASON at all

BUT could even be signof

Skull fracture

Epilepsy

Tuberculosis

even constipation

too much alcohol Or smoking

SOOOO what is the most recommended cure for the  HICCUPS?

SUGAR!  1 teaspoon of sugar left to dissolve slowly in your mouth and swallow slowly!  We personally have found brown sugar works better (AND it tastes better) If this doesn’t work you could try other ideas like drinking water, holding your breath, getting scared and I have even heard people say standing on your head.  Persoanlly i hate the blood rushing to mt head feeling Buy whatever works foryou.

Now if you can’t get rid of them seek medical attention. it sounds goofy BUT you might not regret it later!

Kettle Korn

It’s popular fair/carnival food BUT did you know you can make it at home and it is E-A-S-Y!!!

Ok so depending on  the size of the batch you may need to play around with the actual amounts of the in gredients

which are:

loose popping corn

a few TBS of oil ( we use Veg.)

about 2 -3 teaspoons od regular white granulated sugar (remember sometimes it’s best to live by the old adage  Less is More)

and

Salt. ( we use sea salt)

Now the key is to when to add both the sugar and salt.

Sohere ya go

Place oil into a HOT nonstick pan (This must have a Lid for obvious catstrophic reasons 🙂

try to gauge the right amount of popcorn to the size of the pan.

When the oil starts to sizzle add popcorn (GENTLY) in just a few seconds the popcorn will begin to pop.  this is when you add the sugar.  Sprinkle it carefully over the kernels (you only want 4 or 5 kernels to have popped before adding the sugar)  Not begine shaking the pan holding on to the liduntil the pop corn is finished popping (basiclly until you hear only a few pops instead of many!  then remove from heat and shaeon salt. and shake gently with lid one. stir with a wooden spoon and let sitfor a minute or so.

ENJOY!

Cook’s not: Be extremely careful when adding the sugar, the sugar will cause the oil to snap and splatter! So use a hot mitt if possible!
