Open house flop!

If you remember I posted for My tackle it Tuesday post that i was focusing on getting our house ready for our Open house on Saturday eveing.  Well that all came to a screetching halt Saturday Morning.  yep All that prep..All that work  All for a very quiet evening at home…What happened you might ask?  Well that is why I am ariting this  post it’s called:

HAND FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE

Are you unfamiliar with the aore mentioned disease?

Well Click here  to learn more about this little gem of a common childhood illness!!

now that you have been familiarized with said gem…Let’s take a look at my Saturday morning.
I lay awake in my bed just thinking of my tasks ahead of me in preparation of our Church open house that evening..WELL Lady bug comes MOANING into our room.  She has a Terrible habit of whining  as it is But you could tell something was wrong.  After asking her a few times to repeat herself since she was in no way understandable i finally got the picture her finger hurt…Big deal I thought I have bigger fish to fry was my initial thought BUT I humored her and looked at her hand and finger..Much to my surprise her hands we covered with Tiny red dots EVERYWHERE!

Not just on her  hands but on her feet forearms knees elbows shoulders, and the back of her neck and some on her chest and belly I let out a yell for Hubby!

He sounded annoyed at first BUT soon we were talking about what this could possibly be..My ultimate fear CHICKEN POX
the bliisters were there BUT they were small.  I called my mom..BUT she was not home from work yet  So i talked with my dad..

he overall thought was chicken Pox HOWEVER…she had been vaccinated!  .We couldn’t get her in to the doctor until; 10 30..PRAISE THE LORD for a doctor’s office that has Saturday hours!  So we waited checking about every half an hours to see what kind of disaster this woould turn into…more blisters appeared FInally it was time for hubby to take her…now the waiting was on…Nothing an hour and a half passed and still nothing.  I was working trying very hard  to keep my mind off of the out come Would we have to cancel…Finally I heard the front door open and Linus began to bark.  THEY”RE HOME!! I dashed to the door to see my little girl with a STICKER..her day was made!! Mine however was turned up side down…The verdict was in Hand foot and mouth disease is HIGHLY contagious!  I had to call EVERYONE in the church directory and tell them we ad to cancel.

The kids were all crushed and so was I since I LOVE doing this every year But we picked a new date and now we are working towards that goal and we are praying no one else gets it.  We have discovered I have had it as a child SOO I am immune however HUBBY HAS NOT!

No church toda!  No school til at least Tuesday…Unleass someone else gets it and we are praying hard that is NOT the case!!!

Here Ya Go Mom…

Well Saturday was a pretty neat day for me….Our local Christian camp hosted a ladies day that was SOOO much fun.

We
made candy and candles and body lotions and body scrubs…At least that
was the first part of the Day!! The second part of the day we got to
get facials, hair cuts adn hair styled hand , foot and back massages,
and our makeup done! They also provided free

child care to which TORNADO HAD A BLAST!

I can home just smiling away i had so much fun…THANKS HONEY FOR THE SURPRISE!
I also came home with a new hair cut and a few new Ideas on how to deal with the amazing amount of hair I have!!!
Well
First I had it layered. I had it like this in college a lot BUT i
always made it curly. The lady who styled my hair used a flat iron
on my hair which really made the layers stand out AND then she put anti
Frizz stuff on my hair. I never thought my hair was frizzy but what a
neat transformation! Now I must admit I had to brush my hair before our
Open house that evening so it is more poofy than earlier in the day!

Tornado
said the cutest thing to me at the camp as I helped him up to the water
fountain…he looked up at me with those blue eyes of his and said
(without any prompting) “Mommy your hair looks so beautiful”
Talk about melting a mommies heart! What a sweet boy you are!

A Very Long Story Cut Short

We got one dog,
His name was Ace.
He seemed to be just our pace.
He was cute
but he was huge.
He was a Great Dane Lab Mix!

The sad thing was this cute dog of ours
Got attacked by a pit bull the day after we got him.
And then he was scared …
He nipped at hubby and I though he cared for the kids!
So we said goodbye through many tears.

We prayed and Prayed
And through much looking we found a pair meant to be.
What joy they have brought.
Their names are Linus and Lucy and they are as happy as can be!
Being Lazy as you will see

They
are quite and lazy and and as laid back as can be for two little
Puppies of the ripe old age of five months. they are brother and sister
and they love each other. Labs are companion dogs…they LOVE the
companionship of other dogs and it has worked well.

We will miss you Ace And we Love you Lucy and Linus!

Doggie search Part 2 and an introduction

Okay so yesterday I left off with when we had to give Ace back to
his shelter he came from due to being attacked by a Pit Bull.  Well we
were all heart broken BUT we did know it was for the best!

But it did leaving us wonder ‘NOW WHAT?”  So we began to pray and
loking again.  This time we found some more interesting things out.
LIKE DOGGIE SCAMS!  Yep there are peole out there who want you to buy
their puppies..usually AKC registered puppies for free but you have to
pay a  $150 dollar shipping fee.  Sounds innocent Right?  Not so much
then they will then call you and tell you they need more money because
shipping prices have changed.  Low and behold you loose all that money
and YOU GET NO DOG!   And it’s funny too. because we found THREE places
perhaps the same person with different aliases BUT the dtory is all
relatively the same.  A sudden trip to a foreign cuntry and they can’t
keep the dog…right down to even missions trip were used!  UGH!

BUT we did find  a couple of good deals!
And that is where our story kind of ends.  With the purchase of our
TWO..YES TWO chocolate lab Puppies Linus and Lucy who are 5 months old!
Let me introduce you..

Tornado giving Lucy a hug

Lady Bug with Linus

Lucy who just lays around all the time

They really are quite the little bums

I have never seen two puppies of this age quite this docile!

Linus does not like to have his picture taken

Luce could care less

They think they are lap dogs!

What cuties!

Hubby with His dogs.

They like him more!

Can you tell?

What little lovers they are…I love
their personalities….We even had company this evening.  There was no
barking or jumping or hyperness .  They came , they greeted they went
and laid down!
Okay so the reason we got two…
They
are companion dogs.  Linus and Lucy are  in the lab family.  They enjoy
the companionship of other dogs  and hence perhaps the possiblity of
their mellowness!
They are definitely some of the best dogs I have EVER owned!

ACE!!

Last week started off kind of um…BUSY.. We have been searching
relentlessly for a family Pet! Over the last few months out kids have
sat on the recliner in our living room gazing up at the painting of our
dog Montana…On one occasion we found Tornado crying…he misses him
so much! So again we started the whole process. Much to our dismay we
hit major snags and road blocks! Places (shelters and rescues) would
not give us a puppy because our kids were too young, you had to have a
fence put in, home visits, month or two month long adoption processes
and adoption fees through the roof! Dismayed to say the least we were
beginning to think that what we were looking for was nearly
impossible…Did I mention that most of the dogs we REALLY liked we
would have to travel over 300 miles for! Well I must say that I was so
sick of looking at Dog pictures! Well then I stumbled on a dog
pound/adoption agency place right here in our own town…They had a lab
mixed with great Dane who only cost 40 dollars! FINALLY!
We called and Made an appointment for last Tuesday night..We went to
see him and came home with this 118 pound lap dog! His name was Ace and
he was a big lovable pooch! However what happened next was unthinkable.
Hubby walked him to the church the next morning and on the way back
home back down the hill they walked past a home with a dog barking
outside. Hubby and Ace both paused a minute at the dog was quite
ferocious but then quickly assumed walking again when Hubby looked up
he watch the Pit Bull snap his too thin line and come attack out dog!
The dogs owner was outside and it took him quite a long time to get his
dog off ours. Hubby came home huffing and puffing….Everyone was a bit
shaken but we all got ready for Vug’s speech and Physical therapy…and
hubby took the older two kids to the store. As the afternoon progressed
the kids did great with Ace BUT Ace was not too sure about me! He began
to nip at my fingers and he turned on me as if he was going to bite me
when I pushed on his hind end to get him to sit. Hubby had checked for
any blood and could not find any so we thought he was fine…. Not so.
he went through the whole thing and was turning into a different dog!
what to do ? Finally hubby called and told me he wanted me to call the
guy who we got ACE from…He came and evaluated him and it was
determined that ACE needed a different home! I was crushed and so were
the kids! Ace was taken away! Now what? We had no idea but we couldn’t go without a dog…So the search went on again…T TO BE CONTINUED…..
