Thankful Thursday-Gifts and Talents

Today has been a BUSY day…i intended on writing this post this morning.  But things quickly went against my original plan.   As everyone knows this is DECEMBER 1st.  Simply crazy in my mind!!

But as i prepare for one of the greatest holiday’s we celebrate as believers I think about all the gifts…..Not gifts that i get but giving 🙂  I make almost every gift  i give.  Not all BUT most.  And i I think about these things i am reminded of the Kings .  Tho they were not present  at the very first Christmas we often see them in most manger scenes with their pots of gold, frankincense and Myrth.  They are usually ornate pots.    then i think of my gifts, the ones I am making,  not nearly ornate enough to be fit for the most high King.  but then i remember i am not giving them to HIM but to my family or friends.  Those who can use these items . BUT then I thought …hmmmm…Maybe i am  giving something to God.   That’s my time, my diligence my love.   i pour over these things and i use my gifts and talents.  I give it all i have and yet it shows God I love him enough to use what he has given me…just like when my loved ones use the very items i make and give them.  And in turn i am showing my loved ones the Love of christ as I sacrifice time for them.  It would be much easier to buy something BUT I love them.

So i am super THANKFUL for the many gifts and abilities that God has given to me and i pray that i can use each one of them  to the best of my ability and that God would be glorified through each and every one of them 🙂   Have a VERY Happy December!

Slight Rebellion

I have to laugh at myself sometimes. i can be so ugh…what’s the word I am looking for…PIG-HEADED!!

I rebel about this attitude of thankful for the twenty some odd days leading up to Thanksgiving. So much of it is hype. I am a firm believer in being thankful everyday. This is something I strive for and this year it has been more difficult though I am not really sure why!!

The next two months are truly my most favorite time of year (Though i Am NOT a huge fan of snow ; or cold for that matter)
Over this last week and I have been more aware of the little lessons my parents strove to teach me and my two younger brothers. Some of them are CLICHE but if you take the time to listen to them life is SOOOOOO much easier!

So the major one is “if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all”.
Now sometimes we need to hold each other accountable BUT we need to be careful. We can hurt others and keep them from furthering their walk with God or halt them from getting to know Christ at all. As i study our Sunday school lessons I am discovering that encouragement is the key to helping anyone grow IN EVERY way!!!

So in light of what i just said….i shouldn’t be rebellious about the twenty some odd days before Thanksgiving! Because they are part of the 365 days in a year and i should be thankful during them as well! So my moment of slight rebellion is over. And i am a better person for it!! AND IN CASE YOU DIDN’T CATCH IT Today i am thankful for my parents who taught me how to function in life and care for people!
